Senior Techie vol 1:5

Hi, Senior Techie has been otherwise engaged since March-ah, March. I remember happy thoughts for Spring and Summer. Instead, we became terrorized by an unseen but very visible coronavirus named COVID-19. A most unwanted guest so to say. Then, the application of the word: Pandemic!

What? We don’t get involved in these world type diseases…those are for other countries, not us…USA. But, we did and here it is October 2020 and we are still reeling from this misery coronavirus that has killed about a million people world-wide.

I have a mask collection to add to my ensemble of the day. Well, my day dressing is also my evening dressing. I no longer feel the need for my lipstick to match anything when I’m in the mask. A few days ago, my latest face adornment arrived: A Shield.

Yes, from my forehead to beyond my chin I have a shield. Actually, I like it until I forget that it is on and I attempt to put something in my mouth. I’ve had to clean it about 3 times already.

Dr. Fauci said that the shield is a better idea and the best idea of all is to combine the mask and the shield as they do in the hospitals. I may pass on both since I have a bit of claustrophobia in the mask alone and don’t want to end up fainting. That could be as unwanted as the coronavirus. Anyway, this is certainly not about senior tech issues unless you count me taking a lot of time figuring out how the shield was assembled. Figured it out on 2 of them and will deal with the rest when needed. So, I’m back to considering if my lipstick matches or complements anything in particular with my rather unfashionable daily attire.

My children observed my unfortunate action and of course, could see the look on my face as I introduced a piece of banana nut bread ONTO the shield. Followed moments later with a fork filled with chicken pot pie. I believe they are still laughing. I had on the shield because my kids don’t live in my pod and are aliens to my environment. Shield On!

Still, we are under self imposed quarantine and I have not frequented a store of any kind since that faithful day in March when the world stopped turning-held hostage by a coronavirus. No beautician, no eyebrows threaded, no leisurely strolls through the Mall, etc.

Almost Everything is delivered by InstaCart, Amazon, or people who are my friends. I will do pick-ups at curbside now. Walks in my yard with a mask in my pocket and now, shield on. So Star Trek as if I’m on a hostile planet…oh, yes, with the West Coast on fire, smoke travels and it is rather hostile. so, if you are still reading, I’ll stop now and go to bed.

Hope to see you soon, at a safe distance and wearing a face covering, Oh, and wash those hands frequently for 20 seconds.
